NPCI plans to expand UPI internationally by targeting countries with large Indian diaspora populations, with CEO Dilip Asbe saying it could enter 15-20 markets over the next decade. NPCI is in talks with Japan, Malaysia and Bahrain, while exploring AI-enabled payments and building on UPIs presence in nine countries.
