Abstract

Balancing a portfolio of power generation assets across regions in the US is fraught with challenges due to the fragmented nature of markets and varying regulatory regimes. Developers with projects across the 50 states face different regulatory and administrative burdens and different financial and power market conditions. As the need for new generation capacity across regions grows and concerns about energy affordability remain top‐of‐mind for policymakers and regulators, developers are consolidating assets and entering new markets through acquisitions.
