Boxline Volatility Expansion System

Family: breakout · Regime: trending · Complexity: medium · Asset classes: FX, Equities, Crypto · Timeframes: H1, H4, D1

Thesis

Markets alternate between periods of low-volatility consolidation and high-volatility expansion. By identifying a breakout from a visual consolidation box (Boxline) that aligns with the primary trend (EMA) and shows acceleration (Momentum), we can capture the meat of the ensuing trend expansion using a volatility-responsive trigger (UTBot). This edge exists because breakout traders often provide the liquidity needed for trend continuation, and momentum confirms the participation of larger players.
