Thesis
The hypothesis is that markets move in bursts following periods of price compression (Darvas Boxes), and these bursts are more reliable when they align with the ultra-long-term 'inertia' of the market (Dynamic EMA). By entering only when volatility confirms the breakout (Bollinger Bands) and exiting when the short-term trend structure breaks (HiLo), we capture the 'meat' of the trend while filtering for liquidity via the Spread Monitor.

- Unsupported Dynamic EMA Length Test (regime) — Provides a 'Maximum Inertia' regime filter; by using bar_index as the length, the filter becomes increasingly resistant to change as the session progresses, ensuring only the most dominant long-term trends are followed.
- Darvas Boxes Modern/Classic (direction) — Identifies structural consolidation zones. The 'upSignal' and 'dnSignal' serve as the directional bias for the breakout.
- Bollinger Bands (Standard) (entry) — Used to confirm volatility expansion; entry only occurs if the Darvas breakout is accompanied by a price move outside the BB midline, ensuring momentum.
- HiLo Activator 02 (exit) — Acts as a dynamic trailing stop and trend-flip exit, allowing the trade to breathe during minor retracements but exiting when the stair-step structure breaks.
- Spread Monitor (Tick-Level) (risk) — Used to dynamically adjust stop-loss distance and prevent entry during periods of illiquidity or high slippage risk.
Known failure conditions
- Market enters a 'death-zone' of low-volatility chop where Darvas boxes frequently reset but HiLo levels are immediately breached.
- The Dynamic EMA length becomes so large (e.g., >10,000 bars) that the regime filter fails to respond to structural bear markets in a timely fashion.
