Thesis

Market price action is most predictable when it moves with 'ease' (low volume-per-pip displacement). By combining Ease of Movement (EOM) to find these 'fluid' zones with Rank Correlation (RCI) to time the cycle's turn, we can identify high-probability momentum bursts. The edge exists because most traders focus on high-volume breakouts, which often lead to churn, whereas this strategy targets the 'silent' moves where liquidity is thin and price slides easily.

Components

• Switch Timeframes Keys (regime) — Used to rapidly validate the 'fluidity' regime across multiple timeframes (H4 for trend, M15 for entry) ensuring the hypothesis holds on more than one horizon.
• Ease of Movement (EOM) (direction) — Identifies periods where price moves easily with minimal volume resistance; positive EOM confirms an upward path of least resistance.
• Rank Correlation Index (entry) — Provides the cyclical trigger by measuring the correlation between price ranks and time, identifying when the momentum cycle aligns with the EOM direction.

Known failure conditions

• EOM remains near zero for extended periods despite high price volatility, suggesting volume data is decoupled from price.
• RCI 'pins' at +/- 100 for more than 10 candles, indicating a trend too strong for mean-reversion entries.
• External API latency for the OptionX connector exceeds the candle close timeframe.
