Gap-Anchor Power Flow Strategy
Family: hybrid · Regime: trending · Complexity: high · Asset classes: Forex, Gold (XAUUSD) · Timeframes: H1, H4
Thesis
The Sunday Gap establishes a psychological 'fair value' anchor for the week. By identifying whether the market is entering a high-volatility phase (VHF) where one side (Bulls/Bears) has statistical dominance (Total Power), we can use momentum oscillators (Stochastic) to enter in the direction of structural flow (Pitchfork) and exit using volatility-adjusted trailing stops (QQE). The edge lies in filtering momentum signals through structural and volatility regimes.
Components
- Sunday Opening Gap (regime) — Sets the weekly directional bias; if the gap is unfilled, it acts as a magnetic regime anchor.
- Total Power Indicator (direction) — Determines whether bulls or bears have statistically dominated the recent price action (Direction).
- Stochastic Oscillator (entry) — Triggers entries at local momentum exhaustion points within the larger trend.
- QQE (Qualitative Quantitative Estimation) (exit) — Trailing volatility-adjusted RSI exit to capture the meat of a move without exiting on minor noise.
- Auto Pitchfork (risk) — Defines the structural boundaries of the current trend for dynamic stop-loss placement and scaling.
- Candles Overlay Template (confirmation) — Visual confirmation that the price is trading in alignment with the 'Total Power' dominant side.
- Vertical Horizontal Filter (VHF) (volatility_filter) — Filters out signals during low-volatility congestion phases where Stochastics fail.
Known failure conditions
- Total Power stays near 0 (equilibrium) for extended periods while VHF remains low.
- Sunday Gap is immediately filled and price consolidates without direction for >48 hours.
- Pitchfork pivots constantly redraw on low-depth settings, leading to SL slippage.
