KNN-WAE Explosive Trend Hunter

Thesis
Trends are most reliably entered when a price 'explosion' (momentum relative to volatility) is validated by high volume-per-unit-of-displacement (VARR) and a machine-learning classification (KNN) of current trend geometry. By ensuring that bearish pressure is receding (Bears Power) and noise is smoothed (Heiken Ashi), the strategy enters trades only when the 'effort' behind a move is translating efficiently into 'result,' using Parabolic SAR to capture the meat of the trend while RSI identifies potential exhaustion points.
Components
- Heiken Ashi (Standard MT5) (regime) — Filters noise by smoothing price; ensures the strategy only operates when the smoothed trend aligns with the signal direction.
- Waddah Attar Explosion (WAE) (direction) — Identifies momentum 'explosions' relative to volatility. Acts as the primary directional gatekeeper by ensuring momentum exceeds a volatility-adjusted threshold.
- Volume SuperTrend AI (Expo) (entry) — Uses KNN classification to validate the current trend state against historical volume-weighted price structures, reducing false SuperTrend flips.
- Relative Strength Index (RSI) (exit) — Used to identify exhaustion points in the trend. Exits positions when the trend reaches overbought or oversold extremes.
- Parabolic SAR (risk) — Provides an objective, accelerating trailing stop-loss that tightens as the trend progresses.
- Bears Power (confirmation) — Measures the exhaustion of sellers. For long entries, rising BP indicates weakening bearish conviction; for shorts, falling BP indicates strengthening bearish pressure.
- Volume to Absolute Return Ratio (volatility_filter) — Filters for 'conviction.' A high ratio relative to its average suggests that high volume is finally translating into price movement (High Effort/High Result).
Known failure conditions
- Prolonged low-volatility 'dead zones' where VARR remains below its average for weeks.
- KNN classification failure in highly anomalous market regimes (e.g., flash crashes or black swan events) not represented in the recent training window.
- RSI oscillation between 45-55 preventing exit while PSAR stops are hit repeatedly.
