Log-Force Structural Trend System

Thesis
Market 'Force' is defined as a synchronized expansion and directional shift of volatility bands. By measuring this force in log-normalized space, we neutralize the impact of price magnitude, allowing for consistent trend capture across multi-year asset cycles. We assume that a trend is only technically 'valid' if price-action persistence (Linefill history) and forecast stability (low MdAE relative to trend strength) are present. This strategy exploits the behavioral tendency of trends to persist once institutional 'Force' aligns across multiple time-horizons represented by the Ichimoku and BB components.
Components
- Linefill Array Slice History Test (regime) — Used as a structural validity check; if the array slice cannot successfully reference historical linefill coordinates, the market is considered too fragmented/gappy for technical analysis.
- BBForce / Bollinger Bands Force (direction) — Identifies directional momentum where the entire volatility envelope shifts in unison, signaling an institutional 'push'.
- Ichimoku Kinko Hyo (entry) — Provides a secondary confirmation of trend via the Kumo (cloud) and Tenkan/Kijun cross to ensure price is trading above/below equilibrium.
- UTBot Alerts (exit) — Provides a sensitive, ATR-based trailing exit to capture the majority of a trend while exiting quickly on volatility reversals.
- Median Absolute Error (risk) — Quantifies the 'noise' or forecast error between candles. High MdAE implies high uncertainty, requiring wider stops and smaller positions.
- Average Force (confirmation) — Filters out weak breakouts by ensuring price is positioned near the extremities of its recent N-period range.
- Logarithmic Transformation (LOG) (volatility_filter) — Stabilizes variance in the price series before applying trend calculations, ensuring that 'Force' is measured on percentage-basis moves rather than absolute price units.
Known failure conditions
- BBForce remains at 0 for extended periods during high-volatility price action, indicating non-directional expansion.
- Median Absolute Error exceeds the 90th percentile of its 200-period lookback, suggesting market chaos rather than a trend.
- Log-transformed price levels result in compression that hides significant absolute price drawdowns.
