Thesis
EUR/USD cycles are most tradable when medium-term momentum (H1 QQE) aligns with short-term cycle turns (M15 MSTOCH) during periods of stable implied volatility (EVZ). By using a roofing filter to strip away non-cyclical price action and sizing risk based on the market's expected 30-day volatility, the strategy captures mid-trend impulses while avoiding the 'volatility trap' of over-leveraging during compressed ranges.

- Switch Timeframes Keys (regime) — Used to facilitate rapid manual Top-Down Analysis (TDA). The trader uses 'X' to check H1/H4 for regime alignment before executing on M15.
- Qualitative Quantitative Estimation (QQE) (direction) — Provides the directional bias. By looking at the H1 QQE status (RSI_MA relative to 50), we ensure we are trading with the medium-term momentum.
- Ehlers MESA Stochastic (MSTOCH) (entry) — Acts as the surgical entry trigger. The roofing filter removes trend-bias, allowing the stochastic to identify cycle turns within the broader QQE trend.
- CCI / Connectable [Azullian] (exit) — Standardized momentum exhaustion exit. Signals a departure from the mean that has reached a statistical local extreme.
- Euro FX VIX (EVZ) Data Loader (risk) — Sets the volatility context. Implied volatility (EVZ) determines the stop-loss width and position size, scaling risk to the market's expected 30-day move.
- Momentum (Example) (confirmation) — Filters out low-velocity churn. Requires price to be moving faster than it was 14 periods ago to confirm the cycle turn is not a 'dead cat bounce'.
Known failure conditions
- EVZ data file becomes stale or fails to update from the external source.
- EUR/USD enters a prolonged 'low-volatility grind' where EVZ remains below 5, causing stop losses to be too tight for standard noise.
- MSTOCH remains pegged at extremes (>0.9 or <0.1) during parabolic moves, preventing entry during the most profitable trends.
