Rank-Correlated Breakout Momentum (RCBM)
Family: trend_following · Regime: trending · Complexity: medium · Asset classes: FX, Equities, Crypto · Timeframes: H1, H4
Thesis
Markets exhibit cyclical momentum where price ranks correlate with time. By entering when rank correlation (RCI) is rising but not yet exhausted, and confirming with breakout levels (SilverTrend) and dual momentum filters (MACD), we capture the most impulsive phase of a trend while using selling pressure (Bears Power) as an early warning for exit.
Components
- Rank Correlation Index (regime) — Acts as a cycle filter to ensure the trade is initiated at the beginning of a fresh rank-order trend rather than at an exhausted extreme.
- SilverTrend Sv2 (direction) — Provides the core trend direction by identifying breakout levels from recent price extremes.
- GoldenChart MACD (entry) — Used as the primary entry trigger when the histogram flips color, indicating immediate momentum alignment.
- Bears Power (exit) — Detects waning selling pressure (bullish) or increasing selling pressure (bearish) to signal an early exit before trend reversal.
- ATR SL Finder (risk) — Calculates dynamic volatility-based stops to protect capital during expansionary moves.
- Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD) (confirmation) — Standard MACD provides a secondary confirmation to ensure both fast and slow momentum vectors are synchronized.
Known failure conditions
- The strategy will fail if RCI remains 'embedded' at extremes (+80/-80) for extended periods while price consolidates.
- Rapid back-to-back SilverTrend flips in low-volatility environments will lead to high drawdown.
