Regression-Linearity Harmonic Exhaustion Strategy

Thesis
Harmonic patterns are geometric price structures that fail most often when the preceding move is chaotic or parabolic. By using the Standard Error of Regression to ensure the lead-in trend is 'linear' and 'orderly,' we increase the probability that the harmonic 'D' point represents a genuine exhaustion of the prevailing trend rather than a temporary pause in a volatile breakout. Following the daily institutional levels (previous day's high/low) provides a structural anchor for risk that random indicators lack.
Components
- Standard Error of Regression (STDERR) (regime) — Acts as the regime filter; a low STDERR indicates a linear, orderly trend where geometric harmonic patterns are more likely to represent structured exhaustion rather than random volatility.
- Supported matrix.swap_columns (direction) — Used as a technical proxy for price direction; it validates the current candle close against the previous one to ensure immediate price movement aligns with the pattern direction.
- Custom Pattern Detection (Harmonic Designer) (entry) — Identifies structural exhaustion points (XABCD patterns) where price is statistically likely to reverse based on Fibonacci ratios.
- Commodity Channel Index (CCI) (exit) — Used to time the exit; specifically, exiting when momentum returns to mean or reaches an opposite extreme after the harmonic reversal.
- Daily High Low MTF (risk) — Provides objective institutional liquidity levels (Previous Day High/Low) for stop-loss placement and risk-adjusted sizing.
Known failure conditions
- STDERR remains consistently high during trending periods, indicating non-linear (parabolic) movement that breaks harmonic geometry.
- Price ignores Daily High/Low levels during high-impact news events, leading to excessive slippage on stops.
- Harmonic patterns frequently repaint the 'D' point in strong momentum environments without reversal.
