Thesis

Volatility cycles between periods of compression (squeeze) and expansion (breakout). This edge exists because market participants accumulate positions during quiet periods, and the subsequent expansion is typically driven by the prevailing macro-trend. By using RAE to measure the 'noise' or predictability of price, we can filter for breakouts that are statistically 'cleaner' and more likely to follow a trend than a random walk.

Components

• Moving Average Ribbon (chingc) (regime) — Establishes the macro-regime. We only trade in the direction where the 20-50 ribbon is stacked and positioned correctly relative to the 100/200 MAs.
• XAU Trend Volatility Filter (XAU_TVF) (direction) — Filters out low-conviction movements by requiring a positive TrendScore and minimum VolPressure before an entry is valid.
• Bollinger Squeeze Advanced (entry) — Provides the precise entry trigger; we enter when the 'Squeeze' (blue) transitions to a 'Momentum Breakout' (green/red) in alignment with the regime.
• Linear Regression (LINREG) (exit) — Acts as a trend exhaustion filter. A reversal in the slope of the LRL suggests the momentum burst has peaked.
• Relative Absolute Error (RAE) (risk) — Quantifies price 'chaos'. If price deviates too far from the predicted mean (high RAE), the risk is higher, requiring smaller position sizes or wider, volatility-adjusted stops.
• Chart Point Qualifier Demo (confirmation) — Used to identify if the current entry candle represents a structural local extreme (point) during the squeeze, ensuring we aren't entering in the middle of a range.

Known failure conditions

• Ribbon 'twist' where 20 MA crosses back through the 50 MA shortly after entry.
• RAE remains above 1.5 for extended periods, indicating price action has decoupled from historical mean predictability (chaos).
• TrendScore flips sign while the Squeeze breakout is still active.
