Thesis
Market trends are statistically persistent only when displacement exceeds a random walk (RWI > 1.0). By aligning this persistence with multi-timeframe moving average consensus and using low-lag cyclic triggers (Center of Gravity), we can enter trends after corrections with a structural exit point (Donchian) that protects capital.
Components
- Multi Timeframe Moving Average Dashboard (regime) — Determines the global trend bias. All MAs across timeframes must align to ensure the strategy is trading with institutional flow rather than against it.
- Random Walk Index (RWI BTF) (direction) — Ensures price action is in a non-random trending state on the current chart, filtering out choppy noise where mean-reversion oscillators fail.
- Ehlers Center of Gravity (CG) (entry) — Acts as the trigger by identifying the precise moment an exhaustion cycle ends and momentum resumes in the direction of the trend with minimal lag.
- Donchian Channels (exit) — Used for trailing stop exits. Captures the meat of the trend by exiting only when price breaks the structural low/high of the last N periods.
- Spread Display and Alert (risk) — Prevents execution during high-spread environments (news/roll-over) which would erode the edge of cycle-based entries.
- Bollinger Bands (Standard) (volatility_filter) — Filters for 'volatility expansion'. Entry is only permitted if price is within a specific distance of the mean, avoiding buying at volatility extremes.
Known failure conditions
- The MTF Dashboard shows a 'perfect' alignment but price remains ranging for >24 hours (regime mismatch).
- Average spread exceeds 10% of the average daily true range, making the stop-out probability too high.
- RWI stays below 1.0 for extended periods, indicating a permanent shift to Brownian motion.
