Structural Momentum News Filtered EA
Family: trend_following · Regime: trending · Complexity: medium · Asset classes: FX · Timeframes: M15, H1
Thesis
Market trends exhibit structural persistence that can be identified via ZigZag swings across multiple timeframes. By entering only when short-term momentum (TDI) aligns with this structural trend and excluding periods of high fundamental uncertainty (News), we capture the 'meat' of the trend while avoiding the noise of news-driven reversals. The edge lies in the filtering of momentum signals through the lens of structural confirmation and event-risk mitigation.
Components
- ProfitRobots Dashboard Template (regime) — Aggregates ZigZag direction across M15 and H1 timeframes to ensure trade alignment with multi-timeframe market structure.
- ZigZag Color (Classic) (direction) — Defines the immediate swing direction (Bullish/Bearish leg) to ensure entries occur within an established price expansion phase.
- Traders Dynamic Index (TDI) (entry) — Provides the momentum trigger via the RSI Price Line crossing the Trade Signal Line, filtered by the Volatility Band for strength.
- Average True Range (NNFX) (exit) — Quantifies current market volatility to set dynamic stop-loss and take-profit levels.
- News Indicator NMNNFX (risk) — Prevents entry during high-volatility news events that could cause slippage or technical structure invalidation.
Known failure conditions
- Price remains in a tight range where ZigZag legs flip frequently (choppiness).
- Failure of external news data feed results in trading into high-impact volatility.
- Extended periods of low volatility where TDI lines converge and produce false crossovers.
