SuperSmoother Neural Breakout (SSNB) Strategy
Family: hybrid · Regime: trending · Complexity: high · Asset classes: Equities, FX Major Pairs, Indices · Timeframes: H1, H4
Thesis
Sustainable price moves require a confluence of volume accumulation and neural-classified momentum before breaking historical structural resistance (Fractal Store). By using the Ehlers SuperSmoother to reduce noise, we enter only when volume confirms the trend, assuming that price structural breakouts supported by accumulation are less likely to be false signals.
Components
- Ehlers SuperSmoother Filter (regime) — Determines the primary trend regime with low lag to ensure the strategy is not trading against dominant momentum.
- Accumulation/Distribution (A/D) Index (direction) — Provides volume-based directional bias; price breakouts must be supported by buying pressure (accumulation) to be valid.
- Mn Fractal Store (entry) — Acts as the execution trigger; breaks of stored historical pivots represent structural shifts in market participants' consensus.
- Sherif Hilo (exit) — Serves as the trend-following exit; ensures positions are held as long as local highs/lows are maintained.
- Chandelier Exit (risk) — Volatility-adjusted risk management; provides a dynamic stop-loss that expands during high volatility to avoid premature stops.
- Neural Network Indicator (NNind) (confirmation) — Acts as a non-linear momentum filter, ensuring the Close Location Value (CLV) pattern reflects strong neural-classified momentum.
Known failure conditions
- Extended periods of ATR expansion without directional bias (volatiltiy expansion without trend).
- Systemic failure of Mn Fractal levels to hold (price 'smearing' through pivots).
- AD Index divergence where price rises on negative flow for more than 5 consecutive bars.
