TII-Volumatic Momentum Inertia System
Family: trend_following · Regime: trending · Complexity: medium · Asset classes: Equities, Forex Extremes (High Volatility), Crypto-Assets (Major) · Timeframes: H1, H4, D1
Thesis
The strategy exploits the 'momentum inertia' found in liquid assets. It assumes that when price significantly deviates from its long-term mean (TII) and clears recent high/low staircase levels (HiLo), a cross of the CCI midline represents a high-probability continuation signal. By anchoring risk to volume-weighted structural levels (Volumatic S/R), we ensure that the trade is only invalidated when actual selling/buying pressure (liquidity) is overcome, rather than just random price noise.
Components
- Trend Intensity Index (TII) (regime) — Serves as the primary trend filter; requires price to exhibit significant deviation from the long-term MA before a trade is considered, ensuring we are not in a low-intensity range.
- HiLo Activator 02 (direction) — Provides a secondary directional confirmation; ensures the immediate price action has cleared the staircase support/resistance before momentum entry.
- CCI Arrows (entry) — Acts as the 'trigger'—entering on the first sign of midline momentum recovery in the direction of the established trend.
- MACD & OSMA Cloud Hybrid (exit) — Used for dynamic exits based on momentum exhaustion (OsMA color shifts) rather than static targets.
- Volumatic Support/Resistance Levels [BigBeluga] (risk) — Determines the stop-loss placement and position sizing based on market structure and volume-weighted volatility.
Known failure conditions
- Price stays locked in a narrow range where TII oscillates around 50 for >100 bars.
- Volumatic levels are so far apart (low volume/high ATR) that R:R falls below 0.5:1.
- CCI Arrows flip 3+ times while TII and HiLo remain static (excessive noise).
