Triple EMA Structural Power Trend
Family: trend_following · Regime: trending · Complexity: medium · Asset classes: Forex, Commodities, Boom/Crash Indices · Timeframes: H1, M15, M5 (Boom/Crash)
Thesis
Market trends persist when price momentum (Triple EMA) is backed by high participation (Total Power) and sufficient volatility (PAM). By anchoring risk to institutional structural levels (GOM Order Blocks) and exiting only when the price structure shifts (ZigZag), the strategy aims to capture the efficient middle 60% of a trend while filtering out noise.
Components
- Indicator Sample Bar Counter (regime) — Ensures the strategy only executes once a minimum threshold of historical data (120 bars) is available to satisfy the lookback requirements of the GOM KOLA SIDO analysis engine.
- SuperTrend MT5 (FxGeek) (direction) — Provides the macro-trend filter; trades are only taken in the direction of the SuperTrend line to avoid counter-trend exhaustion plays.
- Triple Exponential Moving Average (EMA) (entry) — Acts as the tactical entry trigger. Entry occurs when the Fast EMA crosses the Slowest EMA in the direction of the macro trend.
- ZigZag Color (Classic) (exit) — Used for structural exits. Positions are closed when a new ZigZag peak (for longs) or trough (for shorts) is confirmed, capturing the completion of a price swing.
- GOM KOLA SIDO — Full Integration (risk) — Defines the risk parameters. Stop losses are placed at the nearest Order Block (OB) or KOLA Zone boundary. Position size is derived from the distance to these levels.
- Total Power Indicator (confirmation) — Confirms trend quality by ensuring the dominating force (Bull vs Bear) is statistically significant before entering, filtering out weak EMA crossovers.
- PAM (Price Action Master) - Volatility Filter Version (volatility_filter) — Prevents entry during 'dead zones' where ATR is below the Value_B threshold, ensuring enough volatility exists to hit targets before reversal.
Known failure conditions
- Price stays within the GOM KOLA Zone for extended periods without a Triple EMA cross (low volatility churn).
- ZigZag frequently repaints exits in high-noise environments, leading to 'death by a thousand cuts' through premature closures.
- Asset volatility shifts such that Value_B threshold is never met or is constantly met even in ranging markets.
