Urgent Adaptive Structural Trend Strategy
Family: hybrid · Regime: trending · Complexity: high · Asset classes: FX, Equities, Indices · Timeframes: H1, H4
Thesis
Strong market trends often exhibit high linear correlation (Urgency) when price moves in a structured channel. This strategy identifies these 'urgent' moves and filters them using cyclical momentum (SAM) to avoid late-stage trend exhaustion, while using the previous day's highs/lows as objective structural risk boundaries. The edge lies in the confluence of market structure (Regression) and cycle congruence.
Components
- Ghost Channels [mph1nance] (regime) — Used to identify 'Urgent' regimes where price is accelerating away from the mean or hugging a rail, indicating strong market structure.
- TopTrend (BBands Stop) (direction) — Provides a volatility-adjusted directional bias to ensure trades are aligned with the prevailing medium-term trend.
- Absolute Strength Histogram (ASH) (entry) — Acts as the trigger mechanism by measuring the net strength of bulls vs bears via double-smoothed RSI.
- HiLo_04 (Gann HiLo Activator) (exit) — Serves as a trailing exit that reacts to changes in price momentum relative to high/low moving averages.
- Daily High Low MTF (risk) — Establishes structural hard stops and position sizing anchors based on the previous day's range.
- Smoothed Adaptive Momentum (confirmation) — Filters momentum signals by ensuring they are congruent with the current dominant market cycle period.
Known failure conditions
- Ghost Channel R2 drops below 0.3, indicating no clear linear structure is present.
- Price enters a 'low urgency' phase where Urgency Score stays below 20 for extended periods.
- Daily range becomes excessively narrow (ATR < 20% of 20-day average), making Daily H/L levels ineffective for risk.
