Centric Basket Grid Trend System
Family: trend_following · Regime: trending · Complexity: high · Asset classes: FX · Timeframes: H1, H4
Thesis
Currencies trend most reliably when strength is broad-based across a basket (Darwinex Index) and momentum originates from psychological supply/demand zones (Grid Points). By using a centered envelope as an 'anti-extension' filter, we avoid entering at the end of exhaustive moves.
Components
- Darwinex Labs Currency Index (regime) — Acts as the master regime filter to ensure the base currency of the pair is in a structural trend against a basket, avoiding noise in isolated pairs.
- Frankenstein Ultimate Pro - ATM Logic (direction) — Provides the directional bias through LSMA and execution timing via Zero-Lag TEMA and ATR-based volatility filtering.
- Grid Points Utility (entry) — Defines high-probability entry zones at psychological 'round number' levels, ensuring we don't enter in the middle of price vacuums.
- Average True Range (ATR) (exit) — Used to define the take-profit target based on recent realized volatility.
- Point-Based Price Grid (risk) — Standardizes stop-loss placement at the next fixed grid level (market structure) rather than an arbitrary distance.
- TMA CG 2024 (Centered Moving Average) (volatility_filter) — Serves as a volatility/overextension filter. Despite repainting, it identifies historical extremes where trend following is likely to fail.
Known failure conditions
- If the base currency index remains flat while individual pairs exhibit high volatility (cross-currency divergence).
- Prolonged low-volatility periods where price oscillates between two grid levels without reaching ATR targets.
