Fisher-Volume Session Expansion
Family: trend_following · Regime: trending · Complexity: medium · Asset classes: Equities (specifically US30/DJI) · Timeframes: M15, M30
Thesis
Intraday price action on major indices tends to gravitate toward or expand away from the session's midpoint. By confirming expansion with volume-weighted pressure (VF) and timing the entry with a cycle oscillator (Fisher), we can capture moves toward daily structural targets (Pivots). The 'edge' exists because session midpoints represent the day's average perceived value, and moves away from this level on high volume indicate institutional conviction.
Components
- Session Range (High/Low/Mid) (regime) — Defines the intraday 'Value Area' midpoint. If price is above the midpoint, the session is interpreted as bullishly structured.
- Volume Force (VF) (direction) — Ensures price movement is backed by volume-weighted momentum. A positive VF confirms buying pressure aligns with the session regime.
- Fisher Transform (EarnForex) (entry) — Provides a normalized oscillator to time the entry after a minor pullback or at the start of a momentum impulse.
- Pivot Points (Classic) (exit) — Provides objective, mathematically derived take-profit targets (R1/S1) that are independent of the current session's price action.
- Probable High Low (risk) — Used for hard stop-loss levels and trade filtering. If price is outside these hardcoded 'probable' bounds, the trade is considered too extended or the regime has failed.
Known failure conditions
- Price breaches the Probable High or Low levels, indicating a shift in macro price regime.
- Volume Force remains flat near zero during peak session hours, indicating a lack of institutional participation.
- Pivot levels (R1/S1) are located inside the Session Midpoint, creating a negative risk-reward ratio.
