NW-Volume War Zone Momentum Trend
Family: trend_following · Regime: trending · Complexity: medium · Asset classes: Equities, Crypto, Forex · Timeframes: 15m, 1H, 4H
Thesis
Market trends are most reliable when they originate from high-volume structural pivots ('War Zones') and are confirmed by volume-weighted momentum. By using a double EMA-based Nadaraya-Watson proxy, we can identify these trends while avoiding the over-extension typical of pure momentum systems. The 'Array Sort' failure test serves as a meta-filter to ensure the strategy only operates when market structure logic is strictly ordered.
Components
- Array Sort Unsupported Order Test (regime) — Acts as a regime 'fail-safe' or logic gate; by attempting a 'sideways' sort, we identify periods where market structure definitions are inherently unstable or non-standard.
- Nadaraya-Watson Envelope (EMA Proxy) (direction) — Establishes the primary directional bias and defines the volatility boundaries within which the trend is considered sustainable.
- Triple Exponential Moving Average (EMA) (entry) — Provides the tactical entry trigger through the alignment of short, medium, and long-term trend momentum.
- Linear Regression (LINREG) (exit) — Used to detect trend exhaustion by monitoring the slope of price change; a flattening slope indicates a high probability of mean reversion.
- Bullish Pivot Detector (risk) — Defines the hard stop-loss based on structural liquidity points and calculates position size based on the distance to the confirmed pivot low.
- Volume Force (VF) (confirmation) — Confirms that price movement is supported by volume-weighted momentum, filtering out 'hollow' price moves.
- Volume and Pivot Points Correlation with Full Control (volatility_filter) — Filters entries to ensure they occur near 'War Zones' established by high-volume institutional pivot points.
Known failure conditions
- Price remains pinned to the NW Envelope extreme for extended periods without LINREG slope flattening, leading to premature exits.
- Volume Force remains near zero despite price movement, indicating a decoupling of volume and price action.
- The 'Array Sort' logic gate defaults to a state that permits entry during high-volatility whip-saws (false positives).
