OI-Heatmap Liquidity Exhaustion Strategy
Family: hybrid · Regime: mixed · Complexity: high · Asset classes: Crypto (USDT-Margined Perpetuals), Index Futures · Timeframes: 15m, 1h, 4h
Thesis
This strategy operates on the behavioral premise that high-volume price levels (POC) act as magnets for liquidity and battlegrounds for participants. By monitoring Aggregated Open Interest, we can distinguish between 'smart money' positioning and retail 'liquidations' (Rekt). The edge lies in entering only when volume concentration (Heatmap) aligns with aggressive positioning (OI) and momentum (TSI/MFI), assuming that price will trend away from these high-stakes levels once one side is exhausted.
Components
- VolumeHeatmap (Experimental Marketorders Matrix) (regime) — Sets the structural context; we only trade when price interacts with a high-intensity Point of Control (POC) identified in a specific volume-concentrated price box.
- Footmap – Heat & Volume [v1] (direction) — Provides a micro-structural confirmation of buying/selling pressure via synthetic delta, ensuring volume distribution favors the trade direction.
- TSI Convergence Divergence (TSI_CD) (entry) — Acts as the high-sensitivity trigger. The histogram color flip identifies the exact moment momentum shifts in favor of the thesis.
- Parabolic SAR (Standard) (exit) — Provides an objective trend-following exit and trailing stop that tightens as the move matures.
- Open Interest Suite [Aggregated] - By Leviathan (risk) — Determines risk context; entry is only valid if aggressive participants (Large OI Up/Down) are present or if a 'Rekt' (liquidation) event has just cleared the path for a reversal.
- Money Flow Index (MFI) (confirmation) — Validates the momentum shift with volume-weighting, ensuring the TSI signal is backed by real capital flow rather than low-liquidity noise.
Known failure conditions
- Price breaks and stays beyond the VolumeHeatmap POC for more than 3 bars without SAR flipping.
- Aggregated OI remains flat or declining during a price breakout, suggesting a lack of market participation.
- Synthetic Delta in Footmap consistently opposes the price direction during the entry window.
