Structural Momentum RMSE Adaptation

Thesis
Market trends are initiated by institutional displacement (visible as SMC Breaks of Structure) but are only sustainable when backed by broader momentum (MACD). By using RMSE to scale risk, we can distinguish between structural breakouts occurring in 'clean' trends versus 'noisy' environments, exiting when price reaches volatility-defined exhaustion (Bollinger Bands).
Components
- SMC Visualizer (ICT Library) (regime) — Defines the market regime by identifying the Break of Structure (BOS) to ensure trading in the direction of institutional order flow.
- MACD Demo Implementation (direction) — Filters the structural signal to ensure price momentum is aligned with the Break of Structure, reducing 'trap' entries.
- Plotshape Test Indicator (entry) — Acts as a hardcoded price-threshold filter, ensuring the strategy only operates on assets within a specific price magnitude (Close > 2).
- Bollinger Bands (exit) — Provides dynamic volatility-based targets. The opposite band represents an exhaustion point for the current momentum leg.
- Root Mean Squared Error (RMSE) (risk) — Quantifies current 'noise' or prediction error relative to the EMA. This serves as a volatility-adjusted basis for the stop loss.
Known failure conditions
- SMC structure remains in a permanent range without printing new BOS/CHoCH levels for >100 bars.
- RMSE values exceed the 90th percentile of historical data, indicating chaotic volatility where structural levels lose relevance.
- The asset price falls below the hardcoded 2.0 threshold of the Plotshape indicator.
