Structural Volume-Momentum Oscillator (SVMO) Strategy
Family: trend_following · Regime: trending · Complexity: high · Asset classes: Equities, FX Major Pairs, Crypto Majors (BTC/ETH) · Timeframes: H1, H4
Thesis
Market trends are driven by institutional accumulation/distribution which manifests as higher highs/lows supported by volume. By entering on momentum pullbacks (Stochastic) only when money flow (CMF) and volume (WatchTower) confirm structural trends (ZigZag), we capture higher-probability trend legs while using volatility-adjusted (GAS) stops to survive noise.
Components
- ZigZag+ v5 (regime) — Establishes the macro market structure; identifies if the market is putting in higher highs/lows (bullish) or lower highs/lows (bearish).
- Chaikin Money Flow (CMF) (direction) — Confirms that price movement is supported by institutional accumulation/distribution rather than low-volume noise.
- Stochastic Oscillator (entry) — Identifies tactical exhaustion points (oversold/overbought) to time entries within the established trend.
- HiLo Activator 02 (exit) — Provides a trailing exit logic that adapts to moving averages of highs/lows, capturing the meat of a trend.
- GAS Price Levels (risk) — Uses multi-factor volatility (ATR/Bollinger) to set stop-loss levels based on dynamic structural support.
- KandleKings™ WatchTower v1.0 (confirmation) — Acts as a final liquidity filter, ensuring price is above/below VWAP and backed by a volume breakout.
Known failure conditions
- ZigZag swing highs/lows failing to provide structural support for >3 consecutive trades.
- Prolonged periods of VWAP 'teasing' (price oscillating across VWAP) resulting in high commission burn.
- Stochastic oscillator remaining pinned in overbought/oversold zones during rapid parabolic moves (momentum gap).
