Thesis
Individual currency pair trends are frequently 'false breakouts' caused by local liquidity spikes. By requiring a trendline break to be confirmed by the aggregate USD Dollar Index (USDX) momentum (TDFI) and directional bias (Mean Error), we can isolate moves driven by institutional USD positioning. Restricting entries to the high-volume overlap of London/New York and avoiding economic news events further filters out retail 'noise' and news-induced whipsaws.
Components
- Mean Error (ME) (regime) — Filters for directional bias; a positive ME suggests a sustained bullish error/tendency relative to the estimate, acting as a regime filter for long-only conditions.
- Trend Direction and Force Index (TDFI) (direction) — Determines if the current price move has sufficient 'force' via its cubic calculation to overcome the dead zone, ensuring we only trade high-momentum phases.
- Best Volume Trend Expert (entry) — Provides multi-confluence entry signals using market structure (support/trendlines) and internal MACD/Fractal logic within specific liquidity windows.
- Heikin-Ashi Candles (exit) — Used as a trailing exit mechanism to filter out minor pullbacks and capture the meat of a trend until a smoothed reversal occurs.
- AlgoMaster News Indicator (NNFX-style) (risk) — Used to inhibit entries during high-volatility event windows and dynamically scale position size based on proximity to high-impact data.
- USDX (US Dollar Index) Tracker (confirmation) — Provides intermarket confirmation; for example, a EURUSD long is only valid if the aggregate USD basket (USDX) shows a bearish crossover of its internal MAs.
Known failure conditions
- Manual trendline dependency makes the strategy non-deterministic if user input is inconsistent.
- Prolonged periods of USD index consolidation while individual pairs move idiosyncratically (de-correlation).
- High-impact news events resulting in 'gap' openings that bypass Heikin-Ashi exit logic.
