Volumatic VWAP Pivot Trend Alpha

Thesis
Significant intraday moves occur when price breaks structural pivots (Pivots) while aligned with institutional volume averages (VWAP) and volatility-defined trends (Chandelier). By using volume-weighted support/resistance (Volumatic S/R) for risk, we place stops behind 'real' liquidity nodes rather than arbitrary distances, increasing the probability of surviving minor pullbacks during a trend.
Components
- Chandelier Exit (regime) — Establishes the volatility-adjusted trend regime; ensures we are only trading in the direction of established momentum.
- Daily Volume-Weighted Average Price (VWAP) (direction) — Provides the intraday 'institutional' price anchor; ensures entries are on the correct side of volume-weighted value.
- Pivot Points (Classic) (entry) — Identifies specific structural breakout (R1) or mean-reversion (S1) levels to trigger the trade.
- IAE — Technical Confluence Score (exit) — Synthesizes multiple momentum and volume signals to identify trade exhaustion or trend decay for exits.
- Volumatic Support/Resistance Levels [BigBeluga] (risk) — Defines stop-loss placement based on volume-validated structural nodes rather than arbitrary price distances.
Known failure conditions
- Price oscillates around VWAP more than 5 times in a single session (non-trending environment).
- Volumatic S/R width becomes <0.1% of asset price, indicating insufficient volume for reliable floor/ceiling levels.
