Volume-Cubic Momentum Session Breakout
Family: trend_following · Regime: trending · Complexity: high · Asset classes: Equities, FX, Indices · Timeframes: 15m, 1H
Thesis
Market trends are most sustainable when price momentum (TDFI) is synchronized with volume accumulation (A/D) during high-liquidity sessions. By requiring a volatility breakout (ATM Logic) from a established range (Constant Range Channel) after a volume divergence has occurred, the strategy enters only when there is high structural conviction that the trend will persist past the entry bar. The edge exists because price momentum alone is often a 'false start' without volume confirmation and session-based liquidity.
Components
- Accumulation/Distribution (regime) — Identifies volume-backed regime shifts via bullish/bearish divergences, ensuring price movement is supported by capital flow.
- SuperTrend & Pivots (direction) — Establishes the primary directional bias and ensures trades occur relative to daily central value (Pivot P).
- Frankenstein Ultimate Pro - ATM Logic (entry) — Provides the final entry trigger when price breaks the TEMA/LSMA alignment with a volatility expansion (ATR filter).
- ADX / Connectable [Azullian] (exit) — Monitors trend strength; exits positions when momentum fades below the trend threshold or DI lines cross.
- Constant Range Channel (risk) — Determines dynamic support/resistance based on price-driven 'steps' for hard stop-loss placement.
- Trend Direction and Force Index (TDFI) (confirmation) — Acts as a momentum filter to ensure the move has sufficient 'force' (cubic momentum) to overcome market noise.
- Calendar Session Utility (volatility_filter) — Filters out low-liquidity periods where volume-based indicators (A/D) and volatility triggers are less reliable.
Known failure conditions
- The strategy fails in 'choppy' sideways regimes where price oscillates between Pivot S1 and R1 without hitting ADX thresholds.
- Failure occurs if the A/D line fails to lead price at major inflection points, indicating volume/price decoupling.
- The Constant Range Channel 'staircases' too frequently in low-volatility periods, resulting in stops that are too tight for the ATR context.
